Our 0-2 rooms at Leaps and Bounds have 1:3 adult to child ratio; these rooms have their own resources and toys specially selected for this age group.
The staff in these rooms plan activities for the children on a daily basis, so that we can provide effective quality experiences. The children are encouraged to develop at their own pace. Children’s work is colourfully displayed on walls, sent home or kept in their individual learning profiles. The children’s individual learning files are updated regularly by the child's key worker noting the childs significant achievements, such as sitting up or crawling. These are available at the parents request.
Staff at Leaps and Bounds are trained in the practice using the birth to three framework.
The framework has three key features in the learning opportunities for very young children.- Relationships
- Responsive Care
- Respect
t is based on the fundamental understanding that environment, health, community and family all influence the childs personal development and shape the children’s early experiences.
Every individual child has their own key worker; every child also receives a daily feedback sheet that informs parents on what their child has done varying from nappy changes to nap times and what activities they have done throughout that day.
We provide lots of sensory play throughout the 0-2 room from body painting to water play, treasure baskets, heuristic play and lots more.
Every day children are given the opportunity to go on an outing either to our enclosed CCTV secure garden or out to the local parks (Barshaw Park) or even just a stroll around the local area in our triple and double buggies.
