 The 3-5 room has a ratio of 1:8 in the room. The room is organised so the children are able to self-select and offer them a wide range of activities to enabled and promote independence. The children are also able to choose their own snack, pour their own drinks and after using resources they are encouraged to tidy them away.
Planning the Curriculum
The children plan through mind mapping activities, so they are able to choose what they would like to learn about. This focuses and establishes the monthly topic and what we are learning and to "WALT".
The staff have been trained to work with the new document "Curriculum for Excellence" and apply this throughout the planning and assessment process.
The Curriculum for excellence on the four capacities:
- Responsible Citizens
- Successful Learners
- Effective Contributors
- Confident Individuals
The children have access to computers within the room, which all have programmes that will challenge their communication and language skills.
We have registered with Eco-schools and are working towards achieving our bronze award. We are currently working on different projects to promote environmental awareness.
